Here is page one of a four-page article entitled "Improving Freight Service." It was published originally in the May 1957 issue of "Pennsy" magazine, page 8. Young. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by Andrew D. Young that was taken at the 59th Street Yard in Chicago, Illinois, in 1953. Prominent here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #7974, an H-10S (2-8-0) "Consolidated" built by the American Locomotive Company as number "8974" during September of 1913, renumbered "7974" in 1917, and retired in 1955. Note the Hostler on the tender's deck, refilling the reservoir. "Fill 'er up, Mack!" Once upon a time, there were four sets of tracks at this point ~ as evidenced by the wide signal bridge.
