PRR 6962, M-1, #1 of 2, 1946
Description:
Huntingdon. Here is the first of two duplicate 35mm color slides of photos by Bill Price that were taken near Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, on 7 October 1946. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #6962, an M-1 (4-8-2) "Mountain" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during December of 1926 and retired in January of 1950 after 24 years of faithful service. It is pulling an eastbound consist of refrigerator cars, and is presently at the Huntingdon Icing Plant where all of the cars are being replenished with ice. Note the flagmen atop the cars, where they can signal the engineman to move the train forward little by little.

On the right is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #6962, an M-1 (4-8-2) "Mountain" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during December of 1926 and retired in January of 1950 after 24 years of faithful service. On the left is an eastbound troop train being pulled by an unidentified K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacific" locomotive.
